Sartorial 65 lands at Subbaculture HQ with the most stylish thud of all time. Props to Nick Keen for this impressive heavyweight (and we do mean heavyweight) tribute to Paul Weller. The production values on this are insane - a chunky hardback book that ships in a beautiful card slipcase with additional commissioned art prints (there are alternate versions). It digs deep on anything and everything that has influenced both Weller’s wardrobe and sound over the decades, and it looks the business - the attention to detail is truly off-the-scale. Essential stuff for Weller headz and style obsessives alike. Full review.

I received my copy yesterday, and it looks absolutely breathtaking! Yes, Paul Weller is central to the book, but it takes in the whole scene… music, vinyl, clothing & lifestyle. As people are aware, books are my thing. The latest tome from Nick Keen et al. is a wonderfully produced book, from the same printers that produce the books for Genesis Publishing. I have all the Weller-related books, and this book is out there with the best (hmm, I wonder which one?)! I knew of the book a few years back when it was mentioned in conversation with Nick. Books at the higher end, not only have to look nice for the price but also have to have the editorial and graphic content; this book has all that. The content would have taken years of research and compilation, and it shows. Well done to the Sartorial 65 team. Don't be put off by the price; this book is worth every penny. You're getting a Genesis-type book for a lot less dosh. If this were an item of clothing, the term Sartorial could be used.

The whole thing is marvellous. I was particularly looking at Paul's relationship with The Beatles as I am passionate too. It doesn't disappoint. The thing I have found most fascinating are the many clothing and other accoutrements which I knew nothing about like Debbex glasses, Hudson Chrome shoes, Duffer of St George etc etc. Fascinating and so sums up PW's style icon status.

Over a year ago, I went on Tufty’s most wonderful Woking Tour by Steve Carver. I had the privilege of meeting Nick Keen and his lovely daughter, Harriet. They were talking about their Sartorial 65 book project. Basically, a forensic investigation of Paul and all the inspiring cultural elements Mr. Weller perpetrates. Well, better late than never. After doing an early bird purchase back then, I’m privileged to have it arrive today. My goodness. This is a definitive and essential book. Never seen a better one about PW.
